In case you hadn’t realised, December isn’t just about Christmas and New Year’s Eve anymore. Oh no, you must be forgetting about the world-renowned Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, wherein the most beautiful women on the planet congregate together on a yearly basis in order to make the rest of us feel thoroughly inadequate. All jokes aside, it really is one of the biggest celebrity bashes of the year, boasting some of pop music’s most memorable performances. Here are just a few of our favourites…
1. Destiny’s Child, 2002
Heralded by many as one of their most stylish performances, the 2002 Victoria’s Secret show saw a gold-clad Destiny’s Child performing hit single ‘8 Days of Christmas’ live in New York City.

2. Justin Timberlake, 2006
Riding heavily on the wave of his epic comeback with album ‘FutureSex/LoveSounds’, Justin Timberlake took to the Victoria’s Secret stage at their LA show to perform ‘Sexyback’ in front of a sexy Chicago-style backdrop.

3. Spice Girls, 2007
There was no way that Victoria’s Secret were going to miss out on the action when the Spice Girls announced their comeback tour back in 2007. So this was the year that saw all five girls reunited on stage to perform their hit single ‘Stop’.

4. Katy Perry, 2010
Of any pop star out there, there are none that fit the Victoria’s Secret mould quite like Katy Perry with her lively attitude and risqué outfits. Therefore it was her time to shine in 2010 when the show returned to its origins in New York City.

After having to cancel the year before, Kanye put on the show of a lifetime in 2011 and was even joined onstage by his good friend Jay-Z to perform their hit single ‘N**as in Paris’.

6. Maroon 5, 2011
This one is ever so slightly awkward because at the time of their performance in 2011 Maroon 5’s Adam Levine was dating Victoria’s Secret angel Anne Vyalitsyna whom he serenaded down the catwalk to ‘Moves like Jagger’. However, it actually turns up he is now married to current angel Behati Prinsloo… We’re guessing they probably prefer not to rewatch this performance all that often.

Another racy performer in her own right, Rihanna set the Victoria’s Secret stage on fire in 2012 with a seductive performance of her hit song ‘Diamonds’.

It turns out that Victoria’s Secret loved Taylor Swift so much that they invited her back two years in a row. And come on, it’s not hard to see why. I’m sure it also helps that she is best friends with half of the angels, particularly supermodel Karlie Kloss whom she walked with down the catwalk for the finale of the 2014 show.

10. Ed Sheeran, 2014
Ed Sheeran is definitely a personal favourite, not least because of the nervous look he sported throughout almost the entirety of his performance of ‘Thinking Out Loud’. The poor guy probably didn’t know where to look – he is a gentleman after all.
